The service

The Actual News publishes recorded facts from locked newsroom and official-agency public feeds. It does not invent stories, pad a short desk, take items from social media, or run advertisements. Accounts are optional for browsing the corpus. A paid digest is optional.

Accounts

You must provide a real email you control. You are responsible for the password and for activity on the account. We may refuse or close an account that abuses the API, probes other readers, or tries to inject copy the desk does not publish.

Price

The digest is $1.19 per month. On the website you may instead pay $12 per year. There are no ads in the paid digest or the apps. The fee keeps the desk independent. Store prices may include tax or regional presentment required by Apple or Google; the desk's listed price remains US dollars.

Subscriptions through Apple

If you subscribe in the iOS app, payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription auto-renews unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Any unused portion of a free trial, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store rules, not by this site.

Subscriptions through Google Play

If you subscribe in the Android app, Google Play bills the subscription and auto-renews it until you cancel in Play Store → Payments & subscriptions. Cancelation stops the next renewal; access continues through the period already paid. Refunds are handled by Google under Play policy, not by this site.

Subscriptions through the website

Web checkout is Stripe. Manage or cancel in the Stripe Customer Portal from /account. Canceling stops the next renewal. Deleting the account also cancels a Stripe subscription we can reach so you are not billed again.

What a subscription includes

• Twice-daily facts-only digest mail (about 08:00 and 20:00 in your timezone).
• Saved desks and the digest archive of editions we sent you.
• No advertisements.

The public corpus on the website stays free. Subscriber access is active (status active or trialing) or grace (past due). That same rule is what the apps and the API enforce.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the API beyond ordinary app use, resell the digest, or present desk copy as your own wire. Do not attempt to inject social posts or invented stories into the corpus.

Disclaimers

Stories come from public newsroom and government feeds. We strip opinion; we do not warrant that a source is complete or that a feed will always have enough items for every desk. A shortfall is left empty. The service is provided as is. We are not liable for incidental or consequential damages to the extent the law allows.

Account deletion

You may delete the account at any time at /account/delete. That page explains what is deleted and what processors retain. Deleting the desk account does not by itself cancel an Apple or Google subscription; cancel those in the stores.
